General Information<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Accessible Canada Act <\/em>(ACA), adopted in 2019, establishes a federal framework aimed at identifying, preventing, and eliminating barriers faced by persons with disabilities. Supported by the <em>Accessible Canada Regulations<\/em> (ACR), its goal is to achieve a barrier-free Canada by 2040, notably through the contributions of federally regulated organizations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1991, Trac-World Freight Services Inc. (Trac-World) is a Quebec based company operating in the transportation and logistics sector, with expertise in road, maritime, and rail services.<\/p>\n<p>Our organization values strong and respectful relationships with employees, clients, partners, and the public. In this regard, Trac-World is committed to actively promoting an inclusive and accessible culture across all its activities.<\/p>\n<p>This plan aims to guide our actions in terms of accessibility and to strengthen an environment based on respect, equity, and trust.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your Feedback <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trac-World places great importance on feedback from the public, employees, and partners. Monitoring Our Plan<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the ACA:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A progress report will be published annually to report on progress made<\/li>\n<li>The plan will be reviewed every three years<\/li>\n<li>Ongoing consultations will be conducted with affected individuals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These measures will help guide our priorities and improve our actions.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>4. Accessibility Plan<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the ACA, our accessibility plan includes the following seven priority areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Employment<\/li>\n<li>The built environment<\/li>\n<li>Information and communication technologies<\/li>\n<li>Communication, other than information and communication technologies<\/li>\n<li>The procurement of goods, services and facilities<\/li>\n<li>The design and delivery of programs and services<\/li>\n<li>Transportation<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For each area, the plan outlines identified barriers and the actions that will be implemented to address them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Definitions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p><u>Accessibility:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Design and adaptation of products, services, and environments to ensure they can be used by all individuals, regardless of their abilities. Let\u2019s take a closer look at each of them.<\/p>\n<p><u>Disability:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Under the ACA: Any impairment, including physical, intellectual, cognitive, mental, or sensory, learning or communication disorders, or functional limitations\u2014permanent, temporary, or episodic, visible or not\u2014that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders full and equal participation in society.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier:<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Under the ACA: Any element, including physical, architectural, informational, communicational, attitudinal, technological, or resulting from policies or practices, that hinders full participation of persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>5. Consultations<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This plan was developed through discussions with members of our team, including employees with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Additional consultation mechanisms will be gradually implemented to improve our practices and better respond to identified needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>6. Barriers and Actions \u2013 Priority Areas under the ACA<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 I. Employment <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Objective:<\/u>\u00a0Support candidates and employees with disabilities, as well as anyone facing barriers, at every stage of their professional journey by ensuring an inclusive and equitable environment.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier #1:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>The company faces challenges in attracting candidates from underrepresented groups, including persons with disabilities. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Actions: <\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review recruitment and hiring practices to identify accessibility barriers<\/li>\n<li>Raise awareness among hiring managers regarding accessible and inclusive hiring processes<\/li>\n<li>Update job postings to include statements on accessibility and inclusion where appropriate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"space-before\">\u00a0 \u00a0 II. Built Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Objective:<\/u> Ensure accessibility of workplaces and facilities.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier #2:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>Limited knowledge of existing or potential accessibility barriers within company facilities.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Actions:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raise awareness and implement processes to ensure accessibility is considered in future acquisitions and renovations<\/li>\n<li>Assess facilities to identify accessibility barriers based on job requirements<\/li>\n<li>Involve the accessibility lead in discussions during future renovations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"space-before\">\u00a0 \u00a0 III. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Objective:<\/u>\u00a0Ensure that technological tools used to create, store, and share information are accessible to all.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier #3:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>Limited knowledge among IT and communications staff regarding accessibility practices for websites and applications. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Actions: <\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide accessibility training to IT staff<\/li>\n<li>Prioritize in-house development of systems to allow greater flexibility in meeting accessibility needs<\/li>\n<li>Integrate accessibility considerations when acquiring or developing new software<\/li>\n<li>Promote existing accessibility features (e.g., screen magnification, read-aloud functions, subtitles in Teams)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"space-before\">\u00a0 \u00a0 IV. Communication, other than information and communication technologies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Objective:<\/u>\u00a0Ensure clear and inclusive communication.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier #4:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>Individuals communicate, receive, and understand information differently. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Actions: <\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promote the use of clear and simple language through training and internal communications<\/li>\n<li>Identify resources to guide staff in creating accessible documents<\/li>\n<li>Assess the possibility of creating template libraries for departments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"space-before\">\u00a0 \u00a0 V. Procurement of Goods, Services, and Facilities <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Objective:<\/u>\u00a0Integrate accessibility from the outset of procurement processes.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier #5:<\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>Accessibility criteria are not always considered when selecting goods, services, or equipment.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Actions: <\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Train procurement staff on accessibility considerations<\/li>\n<li>Integrate accessibility criteria into procurement processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"space-before\">\u00a0 \u00a0 VI. Design and Delivery of Programs and Services<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Objective:<\/u>\u00a0Embed accessibility principles in the development and implementation of programs, services, and processes.<\/p>\n<p><u>Barrier #6: <\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>Lack of a structured mechanism to encourage or manage accessibility feedback. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><u>Actions:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encourage feedback by sharing the accessibility plan internally<\/li>\n<li>Develop an internal policy demonstrating Trac-World\u2019s commitment to accessibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong class=\"space-before\">\u00a0 \u00a0 VII. Transportation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This area of action aims to identify, remove, and prevent accessibility barriers in the federally regulated transportation sector, to enable persons with disabilities to travel and access transportation services safely, independently, and with dignity. It specifically covers the various stages of the travel process (information, reservation, travel, boarding, and passenger services), as well as the accessibility of infrastructure and equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Trac-World operates in the transportation of goods, not passengers. Therefore, the obligations set out under the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) regarding passenger transportation services do not apply to our organization.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>7. Conclusion<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This Accessibility Plan reflects our commitment to contributing to a barrier-free, inclusive Canada for persons with disabilities.
